Dion Drena Beljo (born 1 March 2002) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Austrian club Rapid Wien on loan from the German side Augsburg, and the Croatia national team.
Early Career Born in Zagreb, Beljo began his football journey with Cibalia, playing for the club's youth teams. During the 2018–19 season, he broke into the Cibalia first team, competing in the Druga NL, the third tier of the Croatian football league system. In his debut season, he impressed with ten goals and nine assists, helping his team finish in first place and secure promotion to the Prva NL. Professional Development In 2019, Beljo moved to the first division club NK Osijek. By June 2020, he had signed a professional contract with the club. His talent continued to shine, and in July 2021, he was loaned out to Istra 1961 for the 2021–22 season. At Istra, Beljo established himself as a key player, starting in 34 league matches and scoring 15 goals. Return to Osijek and Move to Augsburg After his successful loan spell, Beljo returned to Osijek and continued his scoring form, netting eight goals in 15 appearances during the first half of the 2022–23 season. His performances caught the attention of FC Augsburg, and on 13 January 2023, he signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the German club for a €3 million fee. Beljo made his Bundesliga debut on 22 January 2023 in a 3–4 loss against Borussia Dortmund and scored his first goal for the club on 4 March 2023 in a 2-1 victory over SV Werder Bremen. Loan to Rapid Wien On 9 July 2024, Beljo moved to Rapid Wien in Austria on a season-long loan with an option to buy. This move marks a new chapter in his career as he aims to gain more experience and continue his development in the Austrian Bundesliga. International Career Beljo's performances at the club level have also earned him recognition at the international level. He has represented Croatia in various youth teams and is now a member of the Croatia national team, where he continues to showcase his skills on the international stage.
